Feel invited to the Educational farms in Warmia and Mazury
Innovative education does not have to rely on complicated processes based on modern technologies. It can be a combination of theoretical knowledge and practical training, i.e., a form of learning based on action. Such acquisition of knowledge and skills works well in teaching both children and adolescents, as well as adults.
You don’t have to look far to find places where this type of education is carried out. These are educational farms, otherwise known as rural farms, which are abundant in our region.
Their main goal is to present knowledge about the functioning of traditional rural farms and crafts related to the countryside. The nationwide network of educational farms has approx. 300 entities, while in the Warmińsko-Mazurskie voivodship there are currently 21 of them.
An example of an educational farm in our region is the “Ekolandia” Horticulture and Agritourism Farm near Orneta. You can learn a lot about plant and animal production here, deepening your ecological and consumer awareness. The topics of the classes are: ecology, agriculture, nature.
Another example is the Educational Farm “Ziołowy Dzbanek” in Sąpy near Młynary, which offers agritourism services. Here you can learn the secrets of dying professions, e.g., pottery, by making items from ceramics by yourself.
In addition, classes are conducted, among others herbal medicine and processing of agricultural products.
In turn, the secrets of beekeeping can be discovered, for example, in the Educational Farm “Warmińska Pszczoła” in Purda near Olsztyn. Here, participants will learn the rules of safe behaviour on the beekeeping farm, its equipment and functioning. They can watch the life of a bee colony, taste honey and make wax objects by themselves.
The advantages of educational farms are not only the proposed activities, but also the attractive location. It provides direct contact with nature and rest from the hustle and bustle of the city. Certainly, these are the perfect places to spend time with your family in a pleasant way as part of a weekend or even a one-day trip.
A full list of educational farms in the Warmińsko-Mazurskie voivodeship together with a description of their offer can be found in the folder devoted to them.
