Rest in the saddle

Horse breeding in Warmia and Mazury is a centuries-old tradition inscribed in the history of the region and as popular as sailing or canoeing. Forests, meadows, country roads, the shores of lakes and rivers, all this inspires and invites horse riding enthusiasts to discover peace and unforgettable moments in the saddle.

Whether you’re an experienced rider or someone who is looking to get the flavour of horse riding, you will find something appropriate in the offer. One of the most well-known stud farms in Warmia and Mazury is the Ferenstein Horse Stud in Gałków near Rucianego Nida.

The stud is the true center of Masurian social life. More than 100 horses, 50 hectares of meadows and pastures, a wide range of training and camps for children and adolescents, organization of many sporting events including the famous Gałkowo Masters competition for the whole of Poland, is a showcase of the stud.

The Horse Stud in the Palace and Folwark in Galiny offers rest in a saddle, regional cuisine and accommodation in the historic palace. There’s a sports horse breeding activity, horse riding lessons for children and adults, and very popular long treks.

There is a horse stud and an agritourism farm located near the lake in  Sasek Mały. The stud has more than 50  horses, an indoor riding area and it specializes in several hour or day long road rallies. The areas around Sask Mały are made for horse riding – extensive forests, numerous lakes, rivers and meadows make this place quite unique. It is worth recalling that the stud in Sasek Mały is only 9 km away from Olsztyn-Mazury Airport in Szymany.

The Polish Academy of Sciences Research Station in Popiel is an area of 1600 hectares and a place where horses run free. The breeding of the ‘Polish Konik’, which we are talking about here started in Popielno in 1949 and to this day it has been maintained in a stable system. It is the longest-run breeding in Poland.

Beautiful surroundings, meadows and forests seen from horse back, that is what the areas around  the Palace of Mortęga look like. The offer includes one, two and three hour trips to Masurian forests and wilderness. The offer includes pony riding for the young ones.

In Zyzdrojowa Wola near Piecek, the Eulalii Animal Foundation  has created a home for horses rescued from slaughterhouses that are waiting for new owners. It is also a place for gatherings, horse riding training and hippotherapy for children.
