Travelling with your dog

Today many of us treat our dog like a family member. Spending time with a dog gives a lot of fun to both of you. We take care of our pet in the best possible way to keep it healthy and happy.

Travelling is not an exception – we want to be able to take a dog companion both on forest trips or mountain walks, as well as to public places. When planning a holiday with a dog, it is worth remembering a few important things.

First of all, even if we like sunbathing and high temperatures, our dog can tolerate them with difficulty, and overheating is as dangerous for a dog as it is for humans. On hot days, it is worth planning trips with your pet in the morning or late afternoon or evening to avoid the most intense heat.

Do not walk on hot cobblestones or asphalt, so as not to risk burning the dog’s paws. If possible, choose shaded routes. Let’s remember about the water supply for our pet. To keep it cool longer, we can keep it in a thermos flask. It is also worth supplying yourself with a tourist dog bowl.

When planning a trip with an overnight stay, be sure to check in advance whether it is possible to stay with an animal. Although this is increasingly not a problem, it’s worth making sure each time. The same applies to situations in public places. When deciding to have a meal in a restaurant, ask the employee of the eating place if you can enter with your dog.

It happens that taking a seat with a pet in the garden is allowed, but entering the room with it is not. Don’t forget about the muzzle. In certain places or situations, for example when travelling on public transport, it is required to put it on the dog’s muzzle. You should also remember never to leave your dog locked in a car.

If we are looking for an idea for a dog trip in our region, attractions located far from cities, in the open air are a good proposition. For example the Wolf’s Lair, which was Hitler’s war headquarters in years 1941-1944, which we can visit without restrictions together with our pet. The vastness of the area will allow us to walk for many hours, which our pet will surely like.
