Walk and taste what’s best in Warmia, Masuria and Powiśle

“The way to a man’s heart is through his stomach” – this is a saying that everyone knows, and when preparing a festive lunch or dinner for your relatives, you can emphasise the uniqueness of a given moment and place. You can safely say that food is very often an emphasis of one’s lifestyle that influences their personal behaviour and decisions. When travelling to Warmia, Masuria and Powiśle, it is impossible not to try regional dishes made from natural ingredients according to traditional recipes.

If you want to eat delicious foods and have not yet chosen a place where to relax, we recommend the “Maps of Culinary Heritage of Warmia, Masuria and Powiśle” prepared and published by the Department of Rural Development and Agriculture of the Marshal’s Office of the Warmia and Masuria Province.

The main idea of publishing the maps was to enable tourists to combine walking along the trail of culinary experiences with getting to know tourist attractions of the Warmian-Masurian Province. The tourists using the above maps can discover the region both in terms of cuisine and landmarks during their stay in Warmia and Masuria. Thanks to the cooperation with the Department of Tourism and Sports of the Marshal’s Office, an effort was made to ensure that the map does not lack flagship attractions and less known pearls.

Four maps are available. The main one covers the area of the entire province. 133 entities that are currently members of the “Warmia Masuria Powiśle” Culinary Heritage network were highlighted. The remaining maps cover the areas of three parts of the region divided into counties.

The western part of the province is included on the first map, namely the following counties: Braniewski, Działdowski, Elbląski, Iławski, Nowomiejski, Ostródzki and the city of Elbląg. The second map covers counties in the central parts of the province: Bartoszycki, Kętrzyński, Lidzbarski, Nidzicki, Olsztyński, Szczycieński and the city of Olsztyn. The third map shows the eastern part of the province, covering the following counties: Węgorzewski, Gołdapski, Olecki, Giżycki, Ełcki, Piski and Mrągowski.
